This one-of-a-kind blanket featuring iconic Anne of Green Gables and Anne inspired images, is paired with a fascinating book all about the quilt patterns unique to Prince Edward Island, Canada.
Learn about the quilt patterns of rural PEI, while tucked up under your unique and cozy quilt inspired blanket.
Quilt making has long been associated with the rural culture of Prince Edward Island Canada. Sherrie Davidson, author of Quilts of Prince Edward Island, is dedicated to preserving the history of quilt making on Prince Edward Island and the results of Davidson's work is a lushly illustrated, scrapbook-style volume, complete with excerpts from diaries and news stories, and discussion of the patterns and techniques that have been passed down through families. Full-colour photographs throughout, and chapters on early settlement, the Acadian/Cajun quilting community, and extended visits to some of the Island's best-known contemporary quilt makers, make this an engaging look at rural life and craft alike.
This blanket is soft, well made and looks so cozy spread over the back of my couch. The PEI Quilt book is really interesting; I've learnt quite a bit about quilt patterns in PEI. It makes a great coffee table book. Bought for myself, but this set would be a good gift for Christmas or a birthday.
