The Restoration Process:
While filming 2008's Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning, Kevin Sullivan realized that all of the Anne of Green Gables titles would benefit from the new digital technology being used on the production. A team of film experts have painstakingly transferred the original film footage of the first three movies, and has repaired each scratched or damaged frame, addressed color degradation issues, and negative sparkle and dirt. Their hard work has paid off: the resulting widescreen digital transfers are simply breathtaking.

FANTASTIC movie for tweens & up. Wholesome & enjoyable. EXCEPT disc 7 entitled "A New Beginning". Totally stupid & traumatizing. Megan Follows (Anne in ALL 6 subsequent dvds) is REPLACED with a woman who not only barely looks like her, by her mannerisms & speech (just EVERYTHING) doesnt match up with Anne at all. The whole movie is plagued by weird "flashbacks" of her childhood that are played by a "younger version of Anne" (who also doesn't capture the audience or fit the part either) & it has a super hard to follow plot & hard to follow dialogues throughout with about 2 dozen totally new characters to try to fit into the plot while the storyline is really unrealistic. We were IN LOVE with the entire show until it totally BOMBED on disc 7.....I think i'll just burn disc 7 & be completely satisfied with the rest of the show.
So thankful that you were able to restore this timeless classic to widescreen digital format. One of my all-time-favorites. THANK YOU !!
I missed the whole Anne of Green Gables books growing up & the 4 Canadian TV broadcasts. I only recently discovered it all in my 70s & immediately ordered the Shop at Sullivan's DVDs of all 4 productions. I also ordered all the books of LM Montgomery on Anne. I am entranced with the stories, the restored productions & the incredible actors that are in these. I delightedly watch & rewatch them all. Terrific purchases!
My daughter grew up watching these movies and wanted them as a birthday present as an adult. She is delighted to have the collection.
