Sullivan Entertainment has asked Opera Atelier to join them in creating an innovative soundtrack for the film Mozart's The Magic Flute. Composed, adapted and conducted by Peter Breiner, this recording features accomplished opera performers Mireille Asselin, Olivier Laquerre and Erin Windle.
This modern, but fantastical reworking of Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute” begins in the imagination of a young classical singer who is cast against his better judgment as Tamino in a production celebrating Mozart’s 250th birthday. Awed by the sheer genius of the music, this fresh new Tamino becomes disarmed and seduced by the irresistible “Flute” score.
He also becomes obsessed with his mysterious co-star, who plays the part of Pamina. She is an unknown soprano of extraordinary talent who is hidden away from the company and the press by her manager. Her story mirrors that of the magician Sarastro holding the Princess Pamina hostage from the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s opera. As the backstage intrigue unfolds, the film’s plot begins to parallel the opera’s underlying fable.
