About Frank W. Benson (1862-1951) 

Often referred to as the last great American Impressionist, Frank W. Benson established himself as a premier portrait painter in a career that spanned six decades. A Salem, Massachusetts native who studied in Paris at the Académie Julian, Benson’s paintings of women and children inspired what became known as the Boston School of Impressionism.
