Kazuri, meaning small and beautiful in Swahili, is the perfect way to describe these delicate and vibrant pieces of ceramic jewelry, hand-molded from the clay of Mt. Kenya, fired and then painted by villagers. The Kazuri company, which is part of the Fair Trade Act, began as a small enterprise to give Kenyan women a source of income for their impoverished families. More than 30 years later, it is a full-fledged factory that employs a total of 840 workers. These beautiful pieces of jewelry not only represent African culture, but the livelihood and future of Kenyan families.
